From early on, the ethos for #1000mokos has been Sticks like Bikes. Sharing what we know through play and grace. Be it on bicycles, or stilts. We find power in walking. On roads and in public space. By our participation in arts and culture, we are part of a bigger story that connects everyone who comes to the yard to learn to walk, so we do.
It's been calculated that the true speed of a car, taking into consideration the time spent working to afford a car and also time spent in traffic to get to work, etc. results in an actual speed of 3 miles/hr or about 5 km/hr — walking speed. This is evident during peak traffic hours by any pedestrian or cyclist on the road in Port-of-Spain.
This month marks six months since #1000mokos began. Not bad for not having a plan. We've hardly skipped a beat since our first session in February. If anything, added extra ones. The only promise we made early on was to show up to the yard each Sunday.
