Andromeda Galaxy & Microcosmos

1.5 billion pixel image (69, 536 x 22, 230) and 4.3 GB disk space. On January 5, NASA released an image of the Andromeda galaxy. The full image is made up of 411 Hubble images via 100 million stars and traveling over more than 40,000 light years, and that's just a section.

On the flip side, the originally titled Microcosmos: Le peuple de l'herbe — Microcosmos: The grass people documentary (view below), directed by Claude Nuridsany and Marie Pérennou in 1996. It's set to the music of Bruno Coulais, and is a poetic homage to the interactions between insects and other small invertebrates.
